Part Time Job Vacancy
Part time Project Support Officer
The Newtownabbey Mens Shed is a registered charity, and we are looking to recruit a part time Project Support Officer. We support men and women in the Antrim and Newtownabbey Council area that are struggling with mental health issues related to loneliness and lack of purpose. We do this by providing a safe space within which many activities are available e.g. wood working, craft, pyrography, 3d printing, CNC machining, sewing, trips and visits, seminars and many more. We are at the stage whereby we have reached a membership of 100 (men and women) and this requires an increasing commitment of time and experience to effectively manage. To that end we have created a new part time post working 18 hours per week at £13 per hour (12,168 per annum). As this is a brand-new post the number of hours and how and when these are worked are subject to discussion as the role evolves. This is a fixed term post the funding for which is supported by the National Lottery – Community Fund which will be reviewed at the end of December 2024 (see section 4 of draft contract of employment).
This is an exciting opportunity which the right person can shape to be most effective. In doing so you will be helping people in the community overcome their issues and making a significant contribution to the individuals and community at large. As a new post the role will be very flexible allowing the role to develop on an ongoing basis. The essential experience required to be demonstrated by the successful candidate includes,
Office administration e.g. filing, correspondence, communications, Microsoft Office, and minute taking.
Finances – Making payments and recording financial activity
Supporting and Managing grant applications
Experience of using PCs and Printers and Microsoft Applications e.g. Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Event organisation.
Excellent people skills.
This is an opportunity that will allow you the space to make a real difference. If you think that you are the person for the job, please email admin@newtownabbeymensshed.org.uk to receive a job specification and application form.
Applications must be returned either by hand or post by 15:00 hrs on the 12 December 23.
